Brown University (Đại học Brown) là một trường đại học tư thục thuộc tiểu bang Rhode Island, là ngôi trường lâu đời thứ 7 tại Hoa Kỳ đồng thời là một thành viên của Ivy League – Nhóm 8 trường đại học danh giá hàng đầu Hoa Kỳ. I. TỔNG QUAN VỀ BROWN UNIVERSITY
1. Thông tin chung
Brown University được thành lập vào năm 1764, là trường đại học lâu đời thứ 3 tại New England và thứ 7 trên toàn nước Mỹ. Với hơn 250 năm phát triển, trường đã có những nghiên cứu học thuật tác động lớn đến thế giới, trường cũng là ngôi trường đi đầu về nghiên cứu trong khối Ivy League.
Brown University có nhiều chương trình đào tạo lâu đời như chương trình Toán học Ứng dụng có lịch sử lâu đời nhất nước Mỹ, chương trình Kỹ thuật lâu đời nhất trong Ivy League, chương trình Y tế lâu đời thứ 3 tại New England và là trường đại học cấp bằng tiến sĩ sớm nhất nước Mỹ. Đặc biệt, nếu các chương trình hiện tại không phù hợp với sở thích của sinh viên, sinh viên chưa tốt nghiệp có thể thiết kế và theo đuổi các chương trình riêng phù hợp với bản thân.
Khuôn viên chính Brown University nằm tại College Hill, trung tâm thành phố Providence trên đảo Rhode. Vì vậy, sinh viên có thể tiết kiệm được khá nhiều chi phí bởi các dịch vụ đi lại công cộng đều có sẵn trong thành phố.
Sinh viên năm nhất tại Brown University sẽ đều ở tại kí túc xá, với mục đích giúp cho các tân sinh viên có thể dễ dàng hòa nhập với một môi trường mới tại đại học. Xung quan kí túc xá có nhiều quán cà phê, nhà hàng cho sinh viên trải nghiệm. Ngoài ra, nhiều giảng viên và nhân viên tại Brown University cũng sinh sống gần khuôn viên trường, vì vậy trường có một cộng đồng liên kết sâu sắc.
